Jobs most affected by AI

Large Linguistic Models (LLMs) and other generative AI tools have not been around for long, but are expected to have a far-reaching impact on the way humans work. With this in mind, researchers have already started to study the potential effects of this transformative technology.

In this graph, we visualise the results of a World Economic Forum report that estimated the extent to which different jobs will be exposed to AI-induced disruption.

Data and methodology

To identify the jobs most affected by AI, the researchers looked at more than 19 000 occupational tasks (e.g. reading documents) to see if they rely on language. If a task was considered language-based, they determined how much human input was needed to complete the task.

Using this analysis, the researchers were able to estimate the impact of AI on different occupational groups.

Where artificial intelligence will have the biggest impact

IT and finance will be the areas most affected by AI.

Within IT, tasks that are expected to be automated include software quality control and customer service. In the field of finance, researchers believe that AI can be of significant benefit in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping and auditing.
