HELOBLUE! - blue is the new green!
The HeloBlue! mark, issued by the Foundation as an independent certification body, is not only a recognition, but also an effective tool that can be incorporated into public procurement and tenders, providing a concrete competitive advantage for companies, businesses and SMEs operating sustainably. In this way, we will promote the inclusion of sustainability aspects, especially water protection, not forgetting energy challenges, in tenders and contribute to their evaluation, with a primary focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) aspects, thus facilitating compliance with the sustainability reporting required by EU taxonomic standards.

Our foundation is committed to environmental, sustainability and especially water protection, and we work to help companies on the path to sustainable development. We believe that protecting the environment is key to our future, and that’s why we aim to help businesses meet environmental standards, which is why the HELO BLUE! sustainability label has been created
HELOBLUE!
Our Foundation's mission
We offer a comprehensive package of mandatory reporting, including energy, ESG and legal advice. We also offer voluntary opportunities to increase competitiveness, win public procurement, gain EU tender advantage, all in a way that cannot be legally challenged either domestically or by the EU, as HeloBlue! is an independent sustainability index-based trademark,
The HELOBLUE! trademark is fully EU-compatible, is renewed annually and is reviewed at each audit. The score can be flexibly increased according to results and commitments, ensuring continued growth and competitive advantage.
One of the Foundation’s key missions is to solve a problem faced by contracting authorities in public procurement: the objective screening of bidders on the basis of green – and blue (!) – criteria and the development of a green evaluation system. With our professional work, contracting authorities do not have to struggle with this dilemma. Our task is to qualify economic operators, and we do this by combining the Green Public Procurement Toolkit (GPP Toolkit) with ESG methodology. In doing so, we offer contracting authorities a credible rating tool to help them select sustainable businesses and support their green initiatives.
A HELOBLUE! evaluates both green and blue performance, taking into account the ESG pillars and validating them against objective criteria. HeloBlue! is a 100% Hungarian organisation pioneering the development of an objective criteria system covering the “green” aspects of public procurement Our mission is to protect the environment by accelerating the introduction of objective evaluation of “green” criteria. HELOBLUE!’s objective criteria system will bring about change in the public procurement market, increasing the coverage of green criteria and rewarding innovators in the industry.
The HELOBLUE! certification mark is a symbol that a product or service meets the “green criteria” and encourages continuous improvement thanks to its multi-level evaluation system.
How can corporate decision-makers get objective information and validation of their company’s compliance with ESG green standards? What opportunities do companies have to document their progress in their green ambitions against objective criteria?
Where can investors and contracting authorities get an independent, objective assessment of the green performance of their partners or investment targets, taking into account ESG considerations?
What we do - some examples
We assess the green performance of companies from an ESG perspective.
We support companies in achieving their own green certification.
We rate companies according to an objective criteria.
We are working to promote sustainability and support the fight against climate change.
Why Blue? Why is water important?

The importance of water
As the world's population and agricultural needs have grown, so has the demand for water, which is seriously affecting the world's water resources. A century ago, freshwater consumption was six times lower than today. The increase in demand and use has resulted in increasing demands on freshwater resources and further depletion of reservoirs. The graph by Chesca Kirkland uses insights from Our World in Data to break down water supply and per capita water abstraction. The latter measures the amount of water abstracted from groundwater and freshwater sources for agricultural, industrial or domestic purposes. Below we show how per capita water abstraction has increased over the past decades, based on the latest available data for each country.
The fresh water

The world’s total water supply is 1386 million cubic kilometres (2019 data, saltwater)
80% of the seabed is uncharted and undiscovered
71% of the Earth’s surface is water
Many people know that more than 70% of the Earth’s surface is water. That’s 326 trillion trillion gallons of water, yet humanity has a scarce supply. Why is this so? It is because 97% of this water is salty and therefore unfit for direct consumption. Of the remaining 3% fresh water, about two-thirds is locked up in snow, glaciers and polar ice caps. Meanwhile, just under a third of freshwater is found in rapidly depleting groundwater reserves. This leaves only 1% of global freshwater as ‘easy’ supplies from rainfall and freshwater reservoirs, including rivers and lakes. Various initiatives have been taken over the years to reduce the global water inequality gap. Efforts include promoting water conservation practices, investing in efficient irrigation systems and developing water infrastructure in regions most affected by scarcity.
You might think that our region is less affected by the problem, but this is not true. Despite the apparent increase in rainfall, our country’s water retention capacity is not very good, so water scarcity will be a serious problem for us in the near future.
About our foundation
Our founders, managers and staff have a wealth of experience in business, law and environmental law, which enables us to bring a global perspective to the ESG-based green advice and assistance we offer our clients. The rating system we have developed is robust in terms of verification, coherent and evidence-based, and provides a solution to objectively validate the “green” aspects required in public procurement.
Our focus is on water management, recognising that water is the Earth’s most precious resource and is under threat. It is in this spirit that we have chosen the name of our foundation, emphasising the importance of responsible management of water resources. We believe it is important not only to focus on green spaces, but to emphasise that water is just as important for sustainability.
The Foundation is committed to supporting companies to put a strong emphasis on water management. We believe that businesses should be ‘blue’ and highlight measures to conserve and sustainably use water resources. Our aim is to get companies actively involved in water management.
